Research Priority Areas

The main focus on the undertaking of Research Projects based on the theme of “Concept to Commercialization” will feature as the mainstay of all research activities.

Armed with a mission to be the “Leading R&D establishment in Malaysia that focuses on the development of the Construction Industry”, CREAM represents a key CIDB initiative that has conjured up a significant level of anticipation and excitement in the industry.CREAM’s intention of undertaking projects from “Concepts to Commercialization” encompasses the undertaking of research on specific core theme of the Construction Industry.

Another key significant area of CREAM involves that of Management of Research which that highlights opportunities for funding Research and Development activities undertaken by Construction Industry Players.


Application for R&D Grant at CIDB


R&D activities support the Construction Industry’s need for an intensive level of technological and knowledge input that eventually contribute to the stability and growth of the Malaysian economy.

The provision of funds or grants for research projects features as one of the main R&D activities within the scope of CIDB’s Research and Development Programs. Eligibility for funding research needs are identified from the following organizations:

    Government agencies

    Professional bodies

    Industry groups

    Standard technical communities

    Higher learning institutions

    Research institutions

    Non-governmental organization

    Individuals



Approved Projects

CREAM sponsors research projects related to the specific highlighted sectors which is based on the seven Strategic Trusts as indicated in the Construction Industry Master Plan (CIMP) 2006-2015:

    Integrate the construction industry value chain to enhance productivity      and efficiency.

    Strengthen the construction industry image.

    Strive  for  the  highest  standard  of  quality,  occupational  safety  and      health and environmental practices.

    Develop   human   resources   capabilities   and   the  capacities  in  the      construction industry.


    Innovate through research and development and adopt new construction      method.

    Leverage  on   information   and   communications   technology   in   the      construction industry.

    Benefit from globalization including the export of construction products      and services.
