Grant Application - Ways of disseminating Research Grant

There are two ways of disseminating research grant:

1. Top-Down Approach - CREAM will obtain industrial view/requirement on R&D by conducting a series of workshop to identify research themes and titles. Then, CREAM will identify research centre of excellent among local university/institution to undertake the research.

80% of the research titles will be determined by this process. The process aim to align the titles to the requirement of construction industry. The process is illustrated by the table below:

2. Bottom-Up Approach - This is the conventional approach of disseminating research grant as currently being practice by other research funding agencies (MOSTI, IRPA etc.). Researcher must first to fill up CREAM 1 form and submit it to CREAM office. Later, CREAM management, if necessary to call the researcher to make a short presentation on research outline and the researcher will be required to fill CREAM 2 form.

Then, the application will be table to CREAM technical panel for the approval. The bottom up approach will not limit the creativity of the researcher to produce better innovation for construction industry. The process is illustrated by the following table:
