Grant
Application - Ways of disseminating Research Grant
There
are two ways of disseminating research grant:
1.
Top-Down Approach - CREAM will obtain industrial view/requirement
on R&D by conducting a series of workshop to identify
research themes and titles. Then, CREAM will identify
research centre of excellent among local university/institution
to undertake the research.
80%
of the research titles will be determined by this
process. The process aim to align the titles to the
requirement of construction industry. The process
is illustrated by the table below:

Approach)
2.
Bottom-Up Approach - This is the conventional approach
of disseminating research grant as currently being
practice by other research funding agencies (MOSTI,
IRPA etc.). Researcher must first to fill up CREAM
1 form and submit it to CREAM office. Later, CREAM
management, if necessary to call the researcher to
make a short presentation on research outline and
the researcher will be required to fill CREAM 2 form.
Then,
the application will be table to CREAM technical panel
for the approval. The bottom up approach will not
limit the creativity of the researcher to produce
better innovation for construction industry. The process
is illustrated by the following table:
